Hoobler Stone originated in California in the 1940s when Ken Hoobler developed his method of producing natural looking cast stone. Exclusive licensing rights for the manufacture and distribution of Hoobler Stone in Australia were purchased in the 1970s.
Eric Liegel brought the business to Australia under license with great success. He built it up over 30 years working on some of Victoria’s iconic buildings.
In 2004, John and Deb Duckworth bought the business when Eric reluctantly retired due to old age. They moved the manufacturing plant to Geelong, where it still is today. In 2019, Jye Duckworth, John and Deb’s son took over the business, so all Hoobler Stone craftsmanship and skills remain well and truly in the Duckworth family.
Hoobler Stone’s focus is to exceed client expectations by ensuring an easy process from initial enquiry to project completion. The Hoobler Stone service includes a free quote, technical advice and support.
Independent contractors can be recommended to provide an obligation free quote to apply the stone. Comprehensive instructions for DIY projects are also available. Hoobler Stone is committed to providing high quality products, timely delivery and outstanding customer service.
Construction of the Arlberg Hotel in Mt Buller in the 1980s was a huge project that attracted significant interest in Hoobler Stone. Application of Hoobler Stone was undertaken over a number of summers. In 2009, an extension to the hotel was added using more Hoobler Stone, which is testament to the quality and durability of the product.
